Fox Run Equine Center is fully equipped with two surgical suites. All necessary equipment is readily available to the surgical team. This includes video endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography, electrocautery, surgical lasers, automatic stapling devices, arthroscopes, and all of the equipment for repair of major fractures, using the ASIF system. This includes 3.5mm, 4.5mm, 5.5mm, and 6.5mm screw sets and bone plating equipment.
Fox Run Equine Center is fully equipped and staffed to perform both elective and emergency surgeries. Types of surgeries routinely performed include arthroscopy, fracture repair and other orthopedic procedures, upper airway, abdominal, reproductive, and general surgery. State of the art equipment, including a surgical laser, is available to the surgeon. We also perform phacoemulsification and vitrectomy for cataract removal and Equine Recurrent Uveitis, respectively. Every surgery is a team effort, consisting of surgeons, assistant surgeons, anesthetists, and technicians. Every surgical patient receives intensive monitoring from the pre-operative to the recovery period.
Our surgical team consists of a surgeon, an assistant surgeon(s), an anesthetist, and at least one technician. More complicated surgeries require additional personnel.
When necessary, consulting surgeons are available.
