Dentistry

Fox Run Equine Center performs full oral examinations, including dental and skull radiography, when necessary for the care of the patient.  We believe that all dentistry should be performed by licensed veterinarians, or under the direct supervision of a veterinarian.  This is to ensure that your horse is receiving the best care  possible.

Routine floating is a part of dentistry, as defined by the PA Practice Act for Veterinary Medicine. There is no such thing as a 'Certified Equine Dentist'.  These are lay people not trained in areas such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathology, all of which are used for not only floating teeth, but also more advanced dentistry.  This includes, but is not limited to, tooth root abscessation, sinusitis, peri-odontal disease, oral tumors, and tongue disorders.
